Our
Story
The Foster Closet at Innovation was born out of a moment that changed everything. In 2018, pastors Mandy and Billy Holden welcomed twins through foster care. That day should have been filled with joy alone, yet it came with the stark reality that many children arrive carrying nothing. No clothes. No toothbrush. Sometimes not even shoes on their feet. Families who say yes often have only minutes to prepare. There is no box of supplies waiting for them. Just a phone call and a child who needs a safe place.
Mandy could not forget that moment. She knew something had to exist that would meet these families right where they are. With the encouragement of her husband Billy and the church they planted together, she created The Foster Closet. It is a place where foster, kinship, and adoptive families can walk in and leave with what they need immediately. Clothing. Shoes. Diapers. Toiletries. All without paperwork or waiting. The goal is simple. No child should arrive empty handed and no family should face those first hours scrambling for the basics.
Our Team
The team at The Foster Closet is made up of volunteers who care deeply and work hard. They sort clothes, organize donations, prep the space, and help families feel seen and supported. Some have foster care experience, others just show up because they believe kids deserve better. This team keeps things running with purpose and no drama. They’re here to meet needs, serve families, and make sure no child goes without the resources they need.
